UPDATE: The two free game offers have expired as of May 6th, 2020. Another offer to get Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 on Xbox, PC, and Playstation likewise expired as of May 10th.

As the Coronavirus continues to threaten the health of people the world over, the need to continue social distancing and self-isolation has grown tremendously.

We all need to stay home to limit just how much COVID-19 spreads in our communities, but let’s be honest, it’s easy to go stir-crazy after a while of being house-bound. Even I’m starting to go crazy from it!

Fortunately, Playstation understands how trying the situation can be, and to encourage players to continue staying indoors, they’re releasing two free games under their “Play at Home initiative.”

The news comes from a Tweet by Playstation earlier today, and announces that all players can download and play Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and Journey from tomorrow, April 15th, 2020, to May 5th, 2020.

Once you download the games during this time period, they are yours to play and keep, so there’s nothing to lose by claiming these two titles while you can!

How to Redeem the Games

Redeeming the two games Sony is giving away is a very simple process. You will have to have or make a Playstation Account first, but for the most part, you can redeem the games on your either your PS4, or online on the Playstation Store website. We’ll cover both methods.

Redeeming via PS4 Console

Playstation has made the process painlessly simple! There’s at least 5 different ways to get to the Play at Home page.

1. From the Playstation Store preview on the Home Menu.

2. From the Free Tab on the Playstation Store.

Free -> Explore.

3. From the Popular Tab on the Playstation Store.

4. From the “Featured” Tab on the Playstation Store.

5. By searching for the games on the Playstation Store.

Whichever way you choose to get there, you’ll be greeted by a landing page with this message:

“As people around the world do the right thing by staying at home to keep each other safe, we are asking our community to continue supporting the safe choice and the need to Play at Home. We’re offering two PS4 games on us, to help players carry on having adventures while physical distancing remains in place.”

Below it will be the two free games. Simply go to the game’s store page, and download the games!

Next, we’ll cover getting the games from the web-based Playstation Store.

Redeeming via the Playstation Store

Redeeming from the online Playstation Store follows the same general process as the one for the PS4, but it’s even easier to navigate to.

Just use the Playstation Store links below for the two games, and download them onto your account! If you aren’t already signed into your Playstation Account, you’ll be prompted to do so.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (Playstation Store page)

Journey (Playstation Store page)

Update: The above promo offers have
EXPIRED
as of May 6th, 2020. The above links will lead to the current price listed on the Playstation Store.

Once purchased online, you may need to go to your game Library on the PS4 to install the games.

Weren’t these Free PS Plus Games?

Yes, yes they were.

If you’ve previously redeemed the games on PS Plus, don’t dismiss the gesture as a waste of time; these games are free for everybody, without needing to maintain an active PS Plus membership.

I don’t know if PS Plus players will be able to claim these games outright, and keep them without the Playstation Plus membership, but it’s worth it to try! You can’t beat free!

Another Free Offer

Update: April 24th, 2020 —

Apparently, Sony isn’t the only one who wants gamers to stay inside for the greater good.

Bandai-Namco is giving all players a digital copy of Pac-Man Championship Edition 2! You can claim it from April 24th, 2020 to May 10th, 2020.

Whether you have an Xbox One, PC, or a PS4, you can download the game by clicking the links Bandai-Namco has provided in their Tweet reply!
